Measures and Tests for IIS Assessment - Patient Matching HL7

New Measurable Concepts Introduced
In July 2023, AIRA, CDC, and MACAW added two new measurable concepts, Patient Matching–HL7 Submission and Patient Matching–HL7 Query, to Testing & Discovery (T&D) under the Measurement & Improvement (M&I) initiative.

Focus on Health Data Interoperability
These concepts assess an IIS’s ability to match and consolidate patient records with variations in key fields like name and address.

IIS Community Input on Over 200 Proposed Measures
In fall 2024, MACAW proposed over 200 measures and tests for public feedback, leading to a three-week comment period (Nov 4–Nov 26) and a town hall (Nov 18).

Finalized Measures and Tests for Assessment
AIRA collected 37 comments from seven groups, and after thorough review, MACAW finalized the measures and tests in early January 2025.
